Adirondack Facilitation

Two Adirondack chairs sit,
Stained walnut, oiled each spring,
Prepared for visitors to sit,
With coffee, a newspaper, a friend,
Someone they love, or just alone.
To enjoy the coolness and sun of early morning,
When quiet pervades and light is dappled,
Through tall green trees amid soft forest sounds.
Two chairs to form a platform for rest
Or a forum for discussion
Of politics, people, or the recitation of a poem.
The view from their secluded spot
Precludes overhearing by neighbors
Or passers-by.
Just two chairs for two people
To share thoughts and insights in privacy,
Among willows, oaks, redbuds, spruce,
And an occasional deer.
To sit in the company of nature,
But in their own world…
Alone.
