Gary McLouth
**Genre:** Fiction
Gary McLouth D.A., Emeritus Professor at the College of Saint Rose, was raised in Corfu, NY, lives in Fort Myers, Florida, by way of Syracuse, Oswego, Kalamazoo, Newport, R.I., Blue Mountain Lake, and Albany, NY. His 1st story collection, “Death and Other Frustrations,” won the President’s Distinguished Dissertation Award at SUNY Albany in 1985. Gary has since published stories and poems in magazines, reviews, and anthologies. Prager published Men and Abortion, co-authored with Arthur B. Shostak
McLouth’s characters in Natural Causes turn vulnerable moments into acts of insight, love, and the kind of heroism that passes for simple good work in a small town. These stories are linked by the intents and intuitions of people determined to do the right thing even as they are destined to endure the realities of circumstance. You could say they act out of a strong faith in God and from deep commitments to family, community, and freedom, but don’t expect them to talk about it much.
