Gulf Coast Writers Association, serving Southwest Florida and beyond,
is the largest and liveliest writing community in Southwest Florida.
We’ve been gathering since 1995, long before Zoom was a thing,
and we’re still showing up in person every month in
Fort Myers, Florida, with real speakers, real snacks,
and really passionate writers.
April is National Poetry Month. At our April 18th meeting, we will host GCWA’s very first poetry slam. A poetry slam is a competitive poetry reading that blends creative writing, theatrical performance, and audience participation. Start preparing now for a fun time.
Annual Reading Festival
Book lovers filled the plaza outside the downtown Regional Library for the Southwest Florida Reading Festival. People came to listen to popular authors, buy books, have them signed, and visit the local authors gathered in a tent at the end of the plaza. Gulf Coast Writers was represented by 12 members serving in two shifts, located just across from the tents
where featured authors spoke and shared their experiences.
Our new banner drew attention and helped welcome visitors to our space.
