Leadership Through Service

The Gulf Coast Writers Association operates entirely through the dedication of its volunteers. Each member of the Board and Executive Committee generously donates their time and talent to ensure the community continues to thrive. Their contributions are not only valued—they’re vital.

Recognizing that not everyone can commit long-term, most officer roles are one-year terms, beginning each April. The Board convenes four times per year outside of general meetings, while the Executive Committee meets approximately eleven times annually.

Just one year of service can make a lasting difference. Volunteers play an essential role in shaping a supportive environment for writers at every stage. At GCWA, the time and heart of each volunteer truly matter.

The Executive Committee oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations, implementing board policies and supporting ongoing programs and events. This team implements decisions efficiently, coordinates regular activities, and addresses immediate needs that arise between full board meetings.
